This year, or any year for that matter, I have not been fortunate enough to attend Coachella. However, through meticulous social media stalking and combing through hundreds of online videos, I developed the superpower of pretending I was there, cool right? So after my glorious weekend in Indio, California, I learned two things: Beyoncé is our lord and savior and there is enough glitter at this festival to fill 100 swimming pools. The major takeaway from this event is that glitter is the ultimate facial accessory and there are unlimited ways to wear it.
Without further ado, here are two glitter trends from Coachella 2018 and instructions for how to recreate the look.
Galactic Beauty:

It’s no secret that 2017 was the year of a blindingly bright cheek highlight. Well, it’s 2018 and Coachella took it a step further. Skip the basic highlighter powder and go straight for chunky glitter or rhinestones. This YouTuber, not to be confused with the North Star, by the name Sarai Jones mixed gold and silver tones to attain this dazzling look. It’s definitely extra, but when else is it socially acceptable to transform yourself into a literal goddess?
Follow these easy steps to achieve Sarai’s look:
Start by applying an eyeshadow that matches the color of glitter you have selected to the area that you want to apply glitter. This will enhance the look when you apply to glitter by drawing more attention to the area and ensuring its visibility from far away.
Take any eyelash glue (glue intended for applying fake lashes which can be found at most drugstores) and apply it in small dots all over the desired area on your face.
Place a clean finger into a smaller, more refined glitter and gently tap it onto the eyelash glue on your face and allow time for it to dry.
Finish the look by applying a few more dots of eyelash glue over top of the smaller glitter and then use your finger to pick up chunkier, larger pieces of glitter and tap them onto your face where you put the glue. The goal of this is the build up the amount of glitter on your face. If you start with the chunkiest glitter first, it won’t fill the space as well and you will have empty patches on your face.
Rhinestone Rave

Countless Coachella attendees walked into the festival with stunning, intricately placed gems on their faces. Hold up, if you’re supposed to spend all day living it up at Coachella, how did YouTuber, Cloe Feldman have time in the morning to hand-place ever tiny rhinestone onto her face. Secrets out... she didn’t. Chloe’s trick, along with many other people, is to use a pre-made rhinestone face sticker. It’s the ultimate lazy man's technique to looking like you spent hours with a tweezer meticulously placing each rhinestone into a design that perfectly frames your face.
Here are a few more tips to ensure you’re rhinestone look is top-notch:
Before peeling off the rhinestone design, hold it up to your face to see if it will fit the desired area. If it’s too large, take a scissor and cut the excess gems off and if it’s too small, cut gems off of one sheet and combine them with another by sticking them on your face next to each other.
Aim for rhinestones that will match or complement the color or your makeup. You can even go as far as the match the rhinestones to your outfit for the ultimate rave ensemble.
Time to go jump and a pool of glitter and live my best life.
